Committee for the Protection against GBV and General Protection (CPGGP)

CPGGP is a non-profit organization which comprises of increasing number of staff members who have different professions and skills suitable for the protection against GBV. The organization also works on general protection meant for vulnerable people such as women, children, the elderly and the IDPs as well as refugees.

Currently, we have 6 (six) staff members who work on General Protection (GP) and

2 (two) Anti-GBV Activists (Anti-GBV Activists)

So as of now, we have these eight (8) members for this particular committee but will increase its members as need arises.

Our main focus is on the following areas:

  1. Protection of Gender Based Violence (GBV)
  2. General Protection (GP)

Mission & Vision Statement

  • CPGGP’s mission is to protect people from GBV
  • CPGGP’s vision is to work on General Protection (GP) for the benefit of all people

Involvement

The organization is an off-shoot or a branch of SJHR, a charity organization which is registered in Puntland Somalia. CPGGP heavily depends on users’ involvement and contribution as they shape the future strategy of the organization and help to sustain some key programmes. Their views are incorporated into the strategic plans and therefore, the service outcome is directly relevant to the needs of the users.

Geographical Coverage

The Organization operates in Kenya, and South-central Somalia and Puntland. Later on, if we grow, we may register as an international charity with registration numbers in Europe, North America and elsewhere in the world.

Project design/Implementation

The organization has adequate capacity and expertise in the areas mentioned in terms of project design and implementation. The organization has qualified staff with degrees and know-how of project design and proposal writing as well as report writing skills

Financial Reporting

The organization has its financial control manual in terms of reporting, authorization and segregation of duties. The reporting period vary in regard to mandate and deadlines of the projects implemented and Donor requirements. In each fiscal year, the organization develops its annual financial report.

Board of Trustees

We have a board of trustees that formulates the policy and direction of the organization, that sets up the overall strategies, carries out follow ups, monitors and evaluates the planned activities, looks for funds and organizes fund raising events in collaboration with our secretariat, and develops strategies to extend cooperation with local communities and international donors.

Membership

The membership of the organization is of two kinds: Founding membership; Honorary and Associate membership. Founding membership are individuals who formed the Organization and voluntarily work with their own finance and efforts. Honorary memberships are member selected from the community for their responsibility; they are professionals to their work, and support their financial assistance to the Organization such as business community and Diasporas.

 

The Fundamental Values of CPGGP

Humanity

CPGGP was born out of a desire to bring assistance without discrimination to the vulnerable communities of war and natural disasters.  CPGGP endeavours in its international and regional capacity to prevent and alleviate human suffering, wherever it may be found. Its purpose is to protect life and health and to ensure respect for human beings. It promotes mutual understanding, friendship, cooperation and lasting harmony amongst all peoples.

 

Impartiality

It makes no discrimination as to nationality, race, gender, religious beliefs, class or political opinions. It endeavours to relieve the suffering of individuals, being guided solely by their needs, and to give priority to the most urgent cases of distress. In order to enjoy the confidence of all, the organization may not take sides in hostilities or engage at any time in controversies of a political, racial, religious or ideological nature.

Independence

The organization is independent from politics and religious controversies; while auxiliaries in the humanitarian services of the vulnerable communities and subject to the laws of their respective countries must always maintain their autonomy so that they may be able at all times to act in accordance with the principles of the organization.

Voluntary Service

It is a voluntary humanitarian and relief organization that provides services to the most vulnerable society e.g. poor and disabled women, children not prompted in any manner by desire for gain.
